“My parents' stairlift was installed just a little over a year ago. It has malfunctioned, stopped working 2 times since it was installed. The 1st time a service person came to repair it there was no charge. The 2nd time I was told it would be 185.00 for someone to come out to correct the problem. When the service person came out, he discovered that during the initial installation the wiring was crammed into the area at the end of the track, which caused a shortage. The wires were taped up with blue tape. Kind of what I would call "jimmy rigged." Prior to his coming, I figured the problem had something to do with the cord coming from the stairlift track, going to the electrical outlet in the wall because, when I moved it a code would flash on the unit. The service person confirmed my suspicion. When the 101 Mobility Office called me the next day to charge 185.00 service charge, I asked her if the service person told her that the problem stemmed from the initial installation? She said yes but, you were due for a maintenance check anyway. I paid the 185.00 but, I told her I didn't think that was fair.” Marsha Swinney Memphis, TN
