The bottom rail retracts out of the way in a narrow passage at the bottom of the stairs and allows movement across the area. “You were supposed to install a new stair lift in place of an existing. Move the existing stair lift and replace the limit switch strikers on the bottom of the unit. These are the plastic strikers which contact the aluminum stop bars on the track causing a slow down and stop. We waited weeks for the part. When they showed up the part was incorrect. I told the installer the part by description, he knew exactly what it was and did not have one on the truck. At time of sale it was mentioned if the part did not fit or too much work to install, you would install a new base or drive unit. That did not happen. The metal stop bars were moved onto one side of the unit. Unit does work but were then told there would be additional charge for the repair. This was not part of the contract. Frankly we paid the invoice but should not have paid. The work was not complete. After order placement sales people were not immediately accessible and we made frequent calls.
