Celebrating Excellence and Legacy: The Inaugural Royce Barnhardt Excellence Award at 101 Mobility
We recently had the honor of celebrating a significant milestone at our Annual Conference—an occasion that marked not only the growth and success of 101 Mobility but also the introduction of an award that embodies our core values and aspirations. The Royce Barnhardt Excellence Award, named after Royce Barnhardt—the father of our co-founder Keith Barnhardt and a pioneer whose vision and dedication have profoundly shaped our company.

Royce Barnhardt’s influence permeates every aspect of our operations, from our commitment to customer care to our passion for accessibility. His principles of loyalty, dedication, and service excellence continue to inspire and guide us. As Keith eloquently shared at the conference, "Royce has never been just about meeting needs; he’s always been about how he can help more effectively."
Co-founder Luke Sampson also reflected on Royce’s indelible impact, noting, "Royce’s foundational work and dedication have deeply influenced our operations and how we serve our customers. His legacy lives on in every life we touch and every service we provide."
Our president, Joe Loch, emphasized the importance of honoring such pioneers, stating, "Recognizing visionaries like Royce is crucial to our brand’s identity and future. It helps us preserve and build upon the rich legacy that forms the bedrock of our success."
The highlight of the conference was the award presentation, with Michel Ragland of Reading, PA, being named the first-ever recipient of the Royce Barnhardt Excellence Award. Since joining 101 Mobility in August 2010 as our first franchise owner, Michel has exemplified the spirit of the award. His entrepreneurial drive and dedication to superior service have not only led his franchise from a modest office to a more expansive facility in Morgantown, PA but have also impacted over 4,500 individuals, enhancing their mobility and quality of life.

Michel’s approach to business is a testament to the values Royce advocated. His attention to detail, commitment to follow-up, and dedication to community accessibility are just a few of the reasons why he was the perfect choice for this award.
The presence of Royce Barnhardt at the conference to witness the award presented in his honor was a poignant moment for all, especially for Keith, who found it profoundly moving to see his father’s legacy honored in such a significant way.
The Royce Barnhardt Excellence Award is more than just a recognition; it’s a celebration of the values that drive us at 101 Mobility. It represents our ongoing commitment to vision, passion, and customer-oriented service—principles that Royce Barnhardt championed throughout his life. This new tradition is a promise to continue striving for excellence in everything we do, ensuring that we not only meet but exceed the expectations of those we serve.
