With the onset of summer and rising temperatures, it seems everyone’s headed outdoors to the pool! But, is your swimming pool accessible for everyone? If not, you may want to consider a residential pool lift. Below, Jennifer Raney, a team member of 101 Mobility, answers the most common pool lift questions.
Q: What is the average cost of a residential pool lift?
A: Depending on the style of lift, depth of concrete, and difficulty of installation, residential pool lifts can range from $2,000 to $9,000.
- A manual hydraulic (no battery power) model would begin around $2,000 to 2,500 installed.
- There are a number of more popular styles that are fully battery power operated for ease of use and that allow users to operate the lift without assistance. These models can range from $3,500 to $7,000 installed depending on weight capacities and concrete requirements.
- High-end custom models that are very specific and/or require a good amount of concrete work can reach up to about $9,000 once installed.
Q: Can I use the same lift for my pool and spa?
A: Yes! You can use the same lift for your pool and spa assuming they are attached.
Q: What is the weight capacity?
A: Weight capacities for an average pool lift range from 300-500 lbs.
Q: What kind of concrete do I need to have?
A: The majority of residential pool lifts require 4-8” thick concrete around your pool to provide a solid anchor for the lift. The concrete depth required varies by the style of lift and specifically how it anchors to the concrete. There are also surface-mount options for wood decking around pools.
Q: Are these lifts permanent?
A: Depending on your needs, residential pool lifts are available in both portable and permanently mounted options. Check out some options here.
Q: Isn’t it dangerous to mix electricity with water?
A: All of the power lifts are DC battery operated and do not plug in. Many of them are also grounded depending on the model and style. Completely safe for everyone!
Q: Can’t I just buy a lift on the internet?
A: Unfortunately, the brands of pool lifts offered on the internet are not always quality or reliable lifts. More importantly, they do not offer an experienced, trained team to install your lift or service it should you need assistance later. At 101 Mobility, our local technicians are trained, certified, and have a great deal of experience installing pool lifts.
