Veterans Day occurs annually on November 11th and serves as a date to honor our military’s veterans. However, at 101 Mobility®, we believe in honoring and giving back to our veterans every day of the year. Donna Dziewik and her team at 101 Mobility® in Milwaukee recently had the opportunity to donate their time and services to a veteran through the VFW in Mukwonago, WI.

A local woman contacted the VFW in Mukwonago (a group which requires that veterans serve in combat in order to join) to donate gently used mobility equipment to a deserving veteran – she was in possession of a mobility scooter and auto lift which had only been used a few times and were no longer needed. Commander Jim Paar, who served in Vietnam with the Air Force and served as a civilian in Afghanistan, joined the VFW in 2000 and has served as the Commander for the past three years. He and his associates were touched by the donation, and enthusiastically identified a deserving recipient: Officer Richard Kuske.
Kuske had been a member of the VFW since 2000 and had held various positions at the post, including serving as prior Commander. He was experiencing mobility challenges and would benefit from the equipment. Humble as he is, Kuske was hesitant at first to accept the donation, but eventually agreed to it.

Commander Paar spoke with Alan Searl, one of his comrades, to help locate a company that could install the auto lift for Kuske. Searl recommended 101 Mobility® of the Greater Milwaukee area, and Commander Paar contacted Dziewik to tell her about the situation. Dziewik, who is involved with numerous volunteer agencies and and dedicates much of her free time to giving back to her community, jumped at the opportunity to support a local veteran in need. She contacted Theresa Reidel, account manager at Bruno Independent Living Aids (the manufacturer of the auto lift and a local Wisconsin company) – Riedel was also excited by the opportunity and agreed to donate any necessary parts. 101 Mobility® donated their time and expertise to install the auto lift for Kuske.
Now the proud owners of a mobility scooter and auto lift, Officer Kuski and his wife, Debbi, feel the equipment has been a lifesaver for their family. 101 Mobility® and Bruno found it an honor and privilege to give back to a veteran in need and to help improve his life.
