They Will Surf Again – Life Rolls On Carolina Beach

Saturday was one of those days you want to try and keep alive forever. Carolina Beach was teeming with the excitement of over 200 volunteers and 40 adaptive surfers.

Jesse Billauer, founder of Life Rolls On, and Kevin Murphy of Odysea Surf and Kiteboard School and Ocean Cure teamed up to host the first Life Rolls On adaptive surfing event in Carolina Beach. Running entirely on donations and sponsorships, this event uniquely gives individuals who rarely go to the beach the chance to catch a wave!

Jesse, a former hopeful pro-surfer, suffered a surfing accident when he was 17, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down. Life Rolls On is the non-profit foundation he created to share his love of the ocean and give everyone a chance to get out there, take a chance, and really experience the beauty that life has to offer!

The day started bright and early volunteers and surfers began arriving at sunrise!

There was a lot to prepare for, there were 40 adaptive surfers to be taken out in heats. Some came from places as far away as Myrtle Beach and Virginia Beach!

Each surfer was rolled down the water’s edge in a beach accessible wheelchair and then placed with a team and an adaptive surf board ready for fun!

The surfers’ reactions were absolutely priceless and the entire day was a fun-filled water adventure for all! Thanks for letting 101 Mobility® come to hang out!
