Bonnaroo 2014 is shaping up to be one of the best Roo’s yet, and wheelchair users can rest assured that there are several resources in place to make sure everyone has a blast. Bonnaroo has not updated their accessibility info for 2014 just yet, but the latest news is below. We will post any major changes for 2014 as soon as they’re made available.
Access Center: When in doubt, always head to the Access Center for accessibility assistance. It is the hub of any and all accessibility information. The Access Center is easily visible on the Bonnaroo map you receive upon arrival. Staff is available at all times—24/7—so you don’t have to miss a single minute of your favorite set.
Accessible Camping: Accessible Camping areas are available for those with mobility disabilities and guests with proper documentation. To receive this documentation, an email must be sent to access@bonnaroo.com. The email is not a reservation, but a request. Vehicles and tents that do not have proper permission will be removed. One companion vehicle is allowed to enter along with the vehicle displaying the appropriate parking tag. The companion vehicle and the vehicle with the accessible parking tag must go through the tollbooths together. They will both receive stickers and park next to each other at the campsite.
Getting There: Half the fun of getting to Bonnaroo is that long and welcoming string of cars upon arrival! Accessible Pathways: Bonnaroo is an outdoor music festival held on a 700-acre farm. The terrain is grassy, bumpy, and rough. However, there are some gravel roadways and pathways to help you get around the site. The grounds are mostly grass and can become muddy when wet, so be careful if it rains during your visit to Manchester.
Wheelchair Push Service/Personal Care Attendants: Bonnaroo does not provide personal care attendants, nor does it provide a wheelchair pushing service for visitors.
Getting Around: Scooters, wheelchairs, power chairs, and other mobility devices are allowed for use by people with mobility disabilities. A limited golf cart shuttle service is available to guests for a fee. Because there are a limited number of wheelchair and scooter rentals available, requests should be put in by the Monday before Bonnaroo begins (June 9, 2014). Simply send an email to gjarrell@respathome.net and they’ll assist you with the process.
Viewing Areas: Bonnaroo provides raised viewing platforms and other reserved areas for patrons experiencing mobility struggles. Ask someone at the Access Center for specific locations or be on the lookout for signs with wheelchair symbols on them.
Centeroo Access Entrance: The Access Entrance to Centeroo has moved closer to the main pedestrian entrance. Look for signs with the wheelchair symbol. Those who do not use wheelchairs will need a pass from the Access Center to use this entrance.
Accessible Portable Toilets: You can find accessible portable toilets in the Accessible Camping Area and anywhere else portable toilets are located.
Accessible Portable Showers: Showers are available for a fee. Accessible portable showers are located in the Accessible Camping Area and in the VIP area. If the VIP showers are locked, find a VIP staff member and they’ll assist you.
Protected Water Station Access: During daylight hours, volunteers are posted at two water stations in Centeroo to make it easier for patrons to access the water spigots. Be on the lookout and they’ll make sure you’re nice and hydrated!
Service Dogs YES, Pets NO: Service dogs and miniature horses that are trained to assist an individual with a disability are allowed at Bonnaroo. Other types of animals and pets are not allowed. Those who masquerade their pet as a service animal will be ejected from the site without a refund.
Accessible ATMs: All Accessible ATMs are located on the Access Map.
